Snow Queen
We had Allie, Miss Milbank, in the other day to do some fun pictures in her crown and dress. I guess the fact that she's the "Snow" Queen means that there should be snow, right? Well that day we got over 10 inches of snow. It was wonderful! She was great, too, because we were out in the snow and -0 degree wind in her dress. You'd never know by the pictures that she was freezing.

1940's Fashion Shoot
As the inaugural project in the studio I wanted to do a period shoot. We collaborated with Jodi Peschong, owner of Jodi's Hair Studio here in Milbank, on hair and make-up as well as wardrobe.
Heather, the model, was such a great sport because we started in the basement, it's not too pretty down there, and ended in the unfinished portion of our upstairs, it's not much better there. I only used one light and natural light when possible.
This was one of the most interesting projects I've worked on and am very pleased with the results.

Finally! Our Studio!
Three months later... Here it is! Our beautiful Main Street location in Milbank, SD. The large room in the front is the reception area for both our studio and the tanning salon that shares the main level of the building.
Up stairs is my office and our client viewing room with our 100 inch proofing screen.
In the hallway are the 10 tanning rooms, restroom and our white shooting room. We have a few "undeveloped" areas of the building that have become some of my favorite areas to shoot.
We had our Grand Opening/Open House over Valentine's weekend. The local businesses have been very encouraging and supportive. Thank you all for your warm welcome!

What's new?
Ok, so it's way to long since I've blogged. Since my last post we've had alot happen.
First of all, we took possesion of our building on Main St in Milbank and started the renovation process. Second, we are now finishing moving (our house) from the lake into Milbank to be closer to the studio.
The Studio: Our building has gone through quite a transformation in the last two months. We will be sharing the building with Neon Sun, a tanning salon, so it's been a large undertaking. Neon Sun will have 9 tanning beds, including two high pressure beds, and a Spray tan booth. Hopefully we'll be opening around Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath. Upstairs our clients will proof their images on a 100 inch projection screen. We'll also be adding a white room to shoot in.
